my only post about the shut down, ever.

140th US Flag Day poster. 1777-1917. The birthday of the stars and stripes, June 14th, 1917. ‘Tis the Star Spangled Banner, oh, long may it wave, o’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!” Library of Congress description: “Poster showing a man raising the American flag, with a minuteman cheering and an eagle flying above.” (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

These dogs understand what a friend, leader and support system looks like. Why in the hell can the two houses not understand their partisan bull&^*(& is destroying the country do I have an opinion on Ocare? Yes I do. ! It’s crap, anytime in our “Land of the Free and the home of the brave” that the government begins to mandate an expenditure outside of your already illegal taxes, it is wrong. I don’t care if you have insurance or a pre-existing condition, the insurance industry is the problem, not the government’s “failure” to provide for those who won’t provide for themselves something they didn’t realize they needed until someone told them it was better than the free care they already received. By free of course I mean, the care I pay for through ridiculous prices in co-pays and prescription costs, and annual premiums.

I believe you only need about 5 friends and 25 associates; and all of mine would come into traffic to help me, because it’s the right thing to do, not because the crowd sourced opinion said to. My friends care about me, my family, our country and our constitution, in spite of the jackassery on capital hill, than the cronies of Capital Hill do. All that said if you too are mad about the shut down driven by the boner and hairy measuring show;  WE voted for them! Every state in the union has the right to pull a Colorado and recall every single last Senator and Congressman/woman in Washington. If we the American people don’t stand up and guide our government, this is where our government will guide us.

I love my dogs…

DESOTO, Kan. — Your child’s school probably has a plan to deal with violent intruders, but one metro district is saying be proactive, instead of just hiding under a desk.

Random acts of violence have led the DeSoto School District to empower teachers, staff and students to take action against an intruder instead of being a sitting duck and hiding in a classroom.

Beginning this school year, the district requires schools to have intruder safety drills every six to eight weeks.

“Traditionally, what was done in school is we lock the doors, turn off the lights, we close the blinds and we move to a safe area within the room where the intruder wouldn’t be able to see us,” Maurice Loridon, school resource officer, said.

But now, Loridon says students in middle and high school are taught to use whatever is sitting in front of them whether…

Last year the Houston department of public safety released a video to talk to all city employees and other interested office dwellers to give a good basic set of guidelines in the event of an office evil-evil doers arrival. Watch the video, educate yourselves, talk to your kids, know your exits, lawfully carry whenever possible, a victim that fights back isn’t a victim. 5+ minutes for the police to arrive, I know how fast I can reload my weapon systems, do you want your last five minutes spent hiding in fear, wondering how fast he is? or did you take the time to become educated, receive training and have your fighters mindset of  “I WILL NOT go silently”

We work every day to provide for our families, that doesn’t end when your work day  is done and you are back home, stand up! be a warrior for your family’s security in all of your efforts.–j

“Way of the gun” had it right

Man if only some movies were real, and some people (Sarah Silverman) somehow didn’t have Ever access to a microphone–

Thank You! Mr. Noir, thank you.

My thoughts….may or may not begin around 1:40 until about 2:00.–j

Since when did others have the right…

to decide what I should do with my business, my choices, and my opinions?

For me this isn’t about gay marriage this is about individual rights and freedoms.

It is wrong to oppress others because they don’t agree with your point of view, It is wrong to force others to unlawfully bend to YOUR will.

It is right to mind your own damn business and realize the freedoms we enjoy today can be lost completely if we all become apathetic to the fact that an individual’s right to choose, is exactly that, THEIR right, not yours, then the tenants of our constitution, and the bill of rights are lost to bullying, reverse discrimination, profiling, prejudice and the single most prevalent across our great United States, IGNORANCE.

My life, my rules ; your life, your rules. The golden rule is the only rule we should be preaching for others, good luck reader, we need it.

Sense of entitlement

This is cut  and paste from the first link below, great points for all, regardless of your back ground–j

By Kelly Crigger

‘Haha. I wouldn’t work for that,” Lieutenant Colonel Bighead tells me.

“It’s a fair salary,” I respond. “Everyone is cutting their budgets now.”

“I’m worth more. Find something better,” he says hanging up the phone.

This is a real conversation. I’m a recruiter that specializes in placing veterans in tech jobs and management positions and I had this exact talk recently. I used to make fun of the Occupy Wall Street kids who squatted on public parks and made unreasonable and oftentimes laughable demands for the world to take care of them like they needed an extra large teet to suckle off of. But now I was getting pretty much the same attitude from a 20-year military veteran with an overblown sense of self-worth.

I’m a huge champion of that oh-so-core capitalist value: a free market economy. And I believe everyone should aspire to capture their market value and then some. If you discovered Einsteinium and you’re worth a bazillion kajillion dollars a year then by God demand it. But here’s what most people don’t realize…the market dictates a person’s value, NOT the individual and Lieutenant Colonel Bighead doesn’t know what I do-that the market is turning down sharply right now so the days of demanding $150K to be a Program Manager in DC are over. Some people can still get that salary, but very few and certainly not ones coming straight off of active duty.

Military retirees are in dire straits in 2013. The recent government budget cuts have forced every company in this industry to cut corners, slash budgets, and do away with the free M&M supply in the break room (the horror!). I have a friend who recently retired from the Air Force after a VERY distinguished career as a Nuclear Missileer. Right now he’s in training to be a postal carrier because there are no opportunities for him outside of uniform. No joke.

So the attitude of “I’m worth more” needs to be checked at the door.

And now…the rest of the story.

owesIn a strange way I’m just as guilty as LTC Bighead. When he copped an attitude with me, the first thing I thought was, “you disrespectful fucko.” I didn’t like the way this guy talked to me. He’s easily 4 years my junior and in uniform I would have jacked him up until he cried. In reality he probably wouldn’t have talked to me that way in the first place because he would have been more professional (I hope).

But that’s the exact same narcissistic character flaw that I was pissed about in the first place-that somehow I’m owed something for my service. For a minute I felt like this guy should show some respect for my time in uniform when I realized a blinding truth: no one gives a shit about your service when you take the uniform off…and shouldn’t. Your rank, your badges, your cool beret doesn’t continue into civilian life. It’s over and overnight you go from Joe Cool to Joe Bag-O-Donuts when it is. No has to give you respect or recognize your authority. It’s just like starting over, so once again…check your attitude at the door.

When the Occupy Wall Street movement was going on everyone (including me) kept telling those kids with an overblown sense of entitlement to Ranger Up and get over it. That’s good advice no matter how old you are.

The right to choose

You have the right to choose a partner, the right to choose your job, political party and gynecologist. More importantly you have the right to be as educated as you want or do not want to be. The Internet allows us to learn most anything we want, for free and only some of which will get the NSA to become more interested in your name.

But our most important choice we have in life is to admit when we are wrong.

This admission frees us from guilt, responsibility, and the burden of living with the truth of being wrong hanging over our heads.

the truth shall set you free. Someone said it once long before I wrote this, and it still holds true today.

look at what you think you stand for or believe in and if you don’t really believe it or stand for it anymore, admit you’re wrong, change your mind, and find your soul.
