We are what we tell ourselves

I have a bachelor’s degree from an online school, from which I graduated while deployed to Afghanistan, people say it’s not good enough. I grew up in a trailer on the wrong end of town, people say I’ll never be enough; i finish with an MBA in 3 months, with honors, again from an online school while deployed away from my family here in the United States.

Some days I don’t believe I’ll find a better job than head silverware roller at Applebees,  but one day, I will be a division head for John Deere. Don’t let your past, your upbringing, your lack of money, predisposition to eating your kids Halloween candy, stop you from finding your place. Hell with finding it, MAKE IT!!! You are what you want to be and where you want to be because that is what you choose to accept, and that is ok, because at some point we all do it. If there is a masters level for the CrossFit games, I want to compete in two years, because I know I can, I don’t have to win but I want to make the cut to get there. No one but you owes you anything, so you owe it to yourself to love yourself, so others know its ok to love you.

If you’ve read me here you know I’m against bullying, Bubba and monkeyhead being on different ends of the scale, same as I was in school. How many of you think of bullying and only think of kids? What about how we bully ourselves? What about how you beat your self down every time you walk past a mirror? Or refuse to buy new jeans?  skip desert after a night out (no dessert isn’t necessary every night, but on occasion) how many times do you make excuses to the reason why you pay your gym bill, but don’t go and then punish yourself to the point of injury the next time you do go??

STOP IT!!

BE consistent with yourselves , BE patient with yourself and BELIEVE in yourself!!!

Russell Brand and politics, take 3

At this point it must seem like I’m all over Russel Brand’s junk. One; he’s incredibly smart, 2 he can sing pretty well, and three he is a public face, a high-profile actor that is speaking out against the standard which Janeane Garofalo , Richard Cloward, Frances Piven, Sarah Silverman, Susan Sarandon, wish to push upon the American people as the standard THEY should live by.

Similar to AL Gore and his carbon credits, when he himself has such a huge carbon footprint, those who have money seem to believe that they know what is best for everyone else, yet wish to make no true changes of themselves or their lifestyles. People around the world wake up!!! Realize you are ants and the grasshoppers are in control, and that the fact is, in the end, there are more ants that survive the winter than grasshoppers.

Russell Brand strikes again.

So I Watched another Russell Brand video a couple of minutes ago, but let me first put out my disclaimer. I am a 23 year Navy combat veteran(land combat not ship), conservative, married, oh and I give two craps about your personal choices which have no affect or effect on my family or myself. That said, I try to teach my kids to love all equally, until individually they prove not worthy.

So Russell meets the westboro baptist church

When I first left active duty I worked a day in my state capital, Topeka, Kansas, at the VA hospital, in surgery. Yes THE Topeka Kansas, home of the wbc (not spelling it out, don’t want it popping more than necessary in a search); Anyways its 0630, I’m driving to work, and I see a kid, about 10, holding up a giant sign which read “God hates F&*)” !!? I almost ran over two Sonic carhops, and their drive through menu, turning red around to make sure I actually saw what I thought I saw. That is when I saw the other sign about soldiers. I drove to work, mad, and asked the staff, what was up with those signs, why were they protesting, and they said “oh, that’s just fred (Phelps) and his crazy family, they do it all the time” I was floored that such a serious defamation of the American Soldier had turned into pretty much the longest running joke in Kansas, well next Kansas State University thinking they have a basketball team.

Legend even told me once that when she was attending a Tori Amos concert at The University of Kansas, that Fred and his crazy family were protesting the concert, it’s Tori Amos, c’mon! Lilith fair sisters unite!!  For those not from Kansas, Fred Phelps is pretty much considered a joke, hasn’t been seen outside his “compound” in years, the protesters are 3,4, and 5th generation family members that don’t even know why they are protesting. I can say though, if I lose another brother in battle and they are at the funeral, I’m not to sure I could let crazys be crazy. In my opinion their leaders are automatons who take a literal translation of the words of the bible to a whole new level. I also don’t believe they are much more than over zealous homophobs which probably didn’t make the pee-wee football team, but again what do I care. Russel Brand does a pretty good job of letting them explain their views, and trying to let them see the other side of a loving god, but again loving or not, he sent locust, and frogs…

When that which we think is, isn’t.

Disclaimer, I hunt, I believe in the right to keep and bear arms, I believe in the right to be free of unwarranted search and seizure, my home is my castle, collecting rainwater for my garden and orchard isn’t against the law, it is saving for a later day.

I also believe if you hurt a child, a woman, or a country of people who you intentionally kept uneducated for monetary and aristocratic reasons, that you should be hurt and healed multiple times until the scales are balanced. I also believe that if you are a hypocrite I no longer have to listen to you and that any words you proffer as advice, leadership, or caring from your last hypocritical point forward, are all lies and I don’t care what comes out of your sub-nasal blow-hole, because I quit listening one lie back.  That said I also believe we need the Erin Brockovich of the world, that the small man needs someone to keep out big industry, mom-and-pop shops are the life blood of America, and that everyone can use a hand up from time to time, and that growing your own food should be a standard of practice, not “those weird hippies at the end of the street”.

But when the liberal media and liberal actors tell us that shelters are bad, and eating animals are bad, and Sarah McLachlan guilt’s us into sending money in every time we hear her songs on the radio, and that it all might be a lie; I’m lost. You mind yours, I’ll mind mine, but don’t use sad images and guilt to get Legend and MonkeyHead to talk me into liberating multiple dogs from the local shelter, because “we have a big yard”.

sounds about right for all this weeks scandals

i try not to be too political,  but really i bust my butt to teach my children and my Sailors how to be personally accountable and then our government makes promises, overextends the peoples treasury, and has yet to take personal responsibility for any missteps

A.Benghazi

B. 13 billion unaccounted for in bailout funds

C. Universal healthcare and its failure to launch or truly be the affordable option as promised

D. multiple personal civil liberty witch hunts “for the safety of the people”

E. The use of diminishing entitlement programs as bait to ensure the uninformed blindly cast their vote.

Fix it now, stand in front of Wal-mart (Target doesn’t like it when you stand in front of them) have people sign the petition, and recall your Senators and Congressman, Colorado did it over the loss of one Company, 1 civil right infringement, and the loss of 1750 jobs, what did the shut down cost us as a people?

Too many people forget that my friends are fighting and dying on a daily basis; Regardless of anyone else’s definition of just cause, they are there because they took an oath, signed a piece of paper and said I will fight for our rights, for our values and for the 5144 dead as a result of the September 11th attacks. Since the dawn of time mankind has wanted something from someone else either through barter or theft they have gotten it. Also since the dawn of time mankind has protected himself, his family and property, whether with rocks, hands, sticks or guns. Tyranny rarely goes unopposed for to long. Our founding fathers knew that, our current administrators have forgotten that and the American people (hopefully) are awakening to the fact that they are in charge of that.

Stand for yourselves and your neighbors, if not no one will be left to stand for you.

my only post about the shut down, ever.

140th US Flag Day poster. 1777-1917. The birthday of the stars and stripes, June 14th, 1917. ‘Tis the Star Spangled Banner, oh, long may it wave, o’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!” Library of Congress description: “Poster showing a man raising the American flag, with a minuteman cheering and an eagle flying above.” (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

These dogs understand what a friend, leader and support system looks like. Why in the hell can the two houses not understand their partisan bull&^*(& is destroying the country do I have an opinion on Ocare? Yes I do. ! It’s crap, anytime in our “Land of the Free and the home of the brave” that the government begins to mandate an expenditure outside of your already illegal taxes, it is wrong. I don’t care if you have insurance or a pre-existing condition, the insurance industry is the problem, not the government’s “failure” to provide for those who won’t provide for themselves something they didn’t realize they needed until someone told them it was better than the free care they already received. By free of course I mean, the care I pay for through ridiculous prices in co-pays and prescription costs, and annual premiums.

I believe you only need about 5 friends and 25 associates; and all of mine would come into traffic to help me, because it’s the right thing to do, not because the crowd sourced opinion said to. My friends care about me, my family, our country and our constitution, in spite of the jackassery on capital hill, than the cronies of Capital Hill do. All that said if you too are mad about the shut down driven by the boner and hairy measuring show;  WE voted for them! Every state in the union has the right to pull a Colorado and recall every single last Senator and Congressman/woman in Washington. If we the American people don’t stand up and guide our government, this is where our government will guide us.

I love my dogs…

Since when did others have the right…

to decide what I should do with my business, my choices, and my opinions?

For me this isn’t about gay marriage this is about individual rights and freedoms.

It is wrong to oppress others because they don’t agree with your point of view, It is wrong to force others to unlawfully bend to YOUR will.

It is right to mind your own damn business and realize the freedoms we enjoy today can be lost completely if we all become apathetic to the fact that an individual’s right to choose, is exactly that, THEIR right, not yours, then the tenants of our constitution, and the bill of rights are lost to bullying, reverse discrimination, profiling, prejudice and the single most prevalent across our great United States, IGNORANCE.

My life, my rules ; your life, your rules. The golden rule is the only rule we should be preaching for others, good luck reader, we need it.

Sense of entitlement

This is cut  and paste from the first link below, great points for all, regardless of your back ground–j

By Kelly Crigger

‘Haha. I wouldn’t work for that,” Lieutenant Colonel Bighead tells me.

“It’s a fair salary,” I respond. “Everyone is cutting their budgets now.”

“I’m worth more. Find something better,” he says hanging up the phone.

This is a real conversation. I’m a recruiter that specializes in placing veterans in tech jobs and management positions and I had this exact talk recently. I used to make fun of the Occupy Wall Street kids who squatted on public parks and made unreasonable and oftentimes laughable demands for the world to take care of them like they needed an extra large teet to suckle off of. But now I was getting pretty much the same attitude from a 20-year military veteran with an overblown sense of self-worth.

I’m a huge champion of that oh-so-core capitalist value: a free market economy. And I believe everyone should aspire to capture their market value and then some. If you discovered Einsteinium and you’re worth a bazillion kajillion dollars a year then by God demand it. But here’s what most people don’t realize…the market dictates a person’s value, NOT the individual and Lieutenant Colonel Bighead doesn’t know what I do-that the market is turning down sharply right now so the days of demanding $150K to be a Program Manager in DC are over. Some people can still get that salary, but very few and certainly not ones coming straight off of active duty.

Military retirees are in dire straits in 2013. The recent government budget cuts have forced every company in this industry to cut corners, slash budgets, and do away with the free M&M supply in the break room (the horror!). I have a friend who recently retired from the Air Force after a VERY distinguished career as a Nuclear Missileer. Right now he’s in training to be a postal carrier because there are no opportunities for him outside of uniform. No joke.

So the attitude of “I’m worth more” needs to be checked at the door.

And now…the rest of the story.

owesIn a strange way I’m just as guilty as LTC Bighead. When he copped an attitude with me, the first thing I thought was, “you disrespectful fucko.” I didn’t like the way this guy talked to me. He’s easily 4 years my junior and in uniform I would have jacked him up until he cried. In reality he probably wouldn’t have talked to me that way in the first place because he would have been more professional (I hope).

But that’s the exact same narcissistic character flaw that I was pissed about in the first place-that somehow I’m owed something for my service. For a minute I felt like this guy should show some respect for my time in uniform when I realized a blinding truth: no one gives a shit about your service when you take the uniform off…and shouldn’t. Your rank, your badges, your cool beret doesn’t continue into civilian life. It’s over and overnight you go from Joe Cool to Joe Bag-O-Donuts when it is. No has to give you respect or recognize your authority. It’s just like starting over, so once again…check your attitude at the door.

When the Occupy Wall Street movement was going on everyone (including me) kept telling those kids with an overblown sense of entitlement to Ranger Up and get over it. That’s good advice no matter how old you are.

The right to choose

You have the right to choose a partner, the right to choose your job, political party and gynecologist. More importantly you have the right to be as educated as you want or do not want to be. The Internet allows us to learn most anything we want, for free and only some of which will get the NSA to become more interested in your name.

But our most important choice we have in life is to admit when we are wrong.

Cover of "Liar Liar [HD DVD]"

Cover of Liar Liar [HD DVD]

This admission frees us from guilt, responsibility, and the burden of living with the truth of being wrong hanging over our heads.

the truth shall set you free. Someone said it once long before I wrote this, and it still holds true today.

look at what you think you stand for or believe in and if you don’t really believe it or stand for it anymore, admit you’re wrong, change your mind, and find your soul.
